Electrostatic precipitator is a dust removal device that uses corona discharge and electrostatic field to separate dust particles in gas. Its working principle is to ionize gas through high-voltage electric field to produce positive and negative ions. After the dust particles combine with negative ions and carry negative charge, they tend to discharge to the anode surface and deposit. Electrostatic precipitator consists of discharge electrode, dust collecting electrode, high-voltage DC power supply device, vibration device and shell.

The working principle of electrostatic precipitator mainly includes the following steps:

• Corona discharge‌: ionize gas through high-voltage electric field to produce a large number of positive and negative ions.
• Charge dust particles‌: Dust particles combine with negative ions and carry negative charge.
• Electrostatic separation‌: Charged dust particles tend to the anode surface under the action of electric field, and deposit on the dust collecting electrode after discharge.

Electrostatic precipitator can be divided into two types: plate type and tube type according to the different forms of dust collecting electrode. It is widely used in metallurgy, chemical and other industries to purify gas or recover useful dust particles. In addition, electrostatic dust removal technology can also be used to control air pollution, such as PM2.5.
